About us
The Kingsway International team
Kingsway International (KI) has been proudly serving the special interest group travel world for 30 years. It has a fine tradition in the performance and sporting tour business. For over a decade it has focused on servicing performance groups.
In 2006 Paul Lam was joined as principal of Kingsway by Oliver Scofield and Michael Clohesy. Together they combine strategic, conceptual, administrative and operational flair.
Philosophy
Kingsway views every tour as a series of performance events from which the sightseeing and pacing of the tour will flow. The key is the combining of your great musical talent with inspiring venues, warm audiences, exchange activity and cultural immersion. This is complemented by safe, secure, entertaining, informative and straightforward touring. Combining these factors results in the wow factor we strive to achieve for every group.
This is true equally for our custom-made and our festival groups.
Our custom-made groups often venture off the beaten track, seeking one-on-one experiences with local performance groups as well as solo performance opportunities and an intimate musical connection to the land they are visiting. We relish the opportunity to provide this.
Our ensembles, that on occasion seek to participate in our performance festivals, come away knowing that we achieved something greater than could have been delivered for a group traveling alone. For instance, performing in Eric Whitacre's European premiere of Paradise Lost, in Frank Ticheli's world premiere at the Sydney Opera House or in one of the unique choral or instrumental salutes to the Beijing Olympics in 2008. A festival tour also contains a series of individual performance options which culminate in a once- in-a-lifetime massed moment.
Artistic Directors
Kingsway International commenced its tradition of working with the highest caliber Artistic Advisors when Emeritus Professor Gary Unruh joined as Director of Performance Tours. This was followed by the association with Dr Matthew George, Head of Music at the University of St Thomas and KI's Artistic Director, Instrumental Division.
Some of the greats that have headed festivals for us in Australia, China and/or Europe in the past include Dr William Hall, Eric Whitacre, Charles Bruffy and Henry Leck.
In 2008 our Choral Artistic Directors include: Weston Noble, Anna Hamre, Charlotte Adams, Eric Knapp, James Rodde, Jerry McCoy, John Guthmiller, Jo-Michael Scheibe, Larry Wyatt, Michelle Jensen and Rollo Dilworth.
Our 2008 Instrumental Artistic Directors include: Bruce Ammann, Cody Birdwell, Glenn Price, Jerry Junkin, John Wakefield, Kenneth Singleton, Matthew George, Richard Clary, Robert Frelly, Robert Rumbelow, Thomas Dvorak, William Johnson and William Wakefield.
These Artistic Directors are amongst the best in their field and they dictate the nature of the musical outcomes Kingsway seeks to deliver.
Destinations
Kingsway International has a great history of tours to Continental Europe and the United Kingdom as well as Australia/New Zealand and China.
While offering distinctive experiences, all the destinations are able to service the KI requirements for a safe context for performance and cultural tours second to none.
